cleisocentron mirrillianum {Merrill's Cleisocentron}

Cleisocentron mirrillianum {Merrill's Cleisocentron} is a wild orchid found only in Sabah. Photographed at Kipandi Butterfly Park.

The cleisocentron mirrillianum is found only in Sabah, Borneo in lower to upper montane forests at elevations of 1,100 to 3,000 metres. It is a small sized orchid which likes warm to cold growing conditions. The flowers grow on several inflorences of 8.5 cm long which bears 8 to 15 tiny blooms of about 1.5 cm across. The flowers are unscented. The translucent petals are in shades of blue.
