Papilio karna carnatus {Jungle Jade, Dschungeljade}

The Papilio karna carnatus {Jungle Jade, Dschungeljade} from Borneo, a member of the family Papilionidae.

The Papilio karna carnatus is a large and beautiful butterfly with a wingspan of 10 to 13 cm distributed across Celebes, Borneo, Java, Sumatra and the Philippines. The wings and upper body are covered in powdered green scales. The middle part of the hind wings is turquoise, and at the back end on each wing, there is a pink, red and black eye with green eye shadow. Fabulous.

I did not get a good shot, and this specimen has seen better days. I will be looking out for this butterfly on my next trip to the park.
