The Darkened Phalaenopsis {phalaenopsis fuscata}.

The Darkened Phalaenopsis is found in shady forests of Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and the Philippines at elevations from sea level to 1000 meters (3,280 ft). It is an epiphyte (grows on other trees) with small to medium size flowers of about 3.75 cm across (1 1/2 inches).

It likes hot to warm temperatures and blooms from spring to summer on a lateral inflorescence about 45 cm long (18 inches), with 2 to 3 flowers each branch. The flowers are waxy and fragrant, and they open successively over a long period.
